CreativCat 2024 in Review: Lessons in Loss, Love, Life, & Not Giving Up

Posted on

Our CreativCat Design team experienced a year like no other. While we had the opportunity to meet new clients and continue to help wonderful teams grow and expand their reach, we personally faced significant challenges and losses that turned our worlds upside down. These mountains of our own forever changed who we were as individuals and how we look at life.

Our team kicked off the year launching one of our most valued clients’ websites. Kinetic, a Philadelphia-based physical therapy and movement-focused organization, hired us to complete their rebrand and then their digital presence with a comprehensive website. We also supported local and small businesses with rebranding services and ongoing seasonal items, like new restaurant menus, bus maps, and the second edition of the Bakin’ Biker 100-page Magazine.

We then supported our world-renowned returning client, Mark VII, by “cat”-apulting their new brand division with ads, trade show graphics, and social media copy and design. Additionally, we worked with two remarkable health and wellness companies, The Movement Paradigm and Sanare.

This year also marked a year of exciting firsts for CreativCat Design. We were thrilled when Danielle completed our first campaign logo for Caroline Gleich as representatives geared up for politically charged elections across the local, state, and national landscape. We also celebrated as we branded our first apparel line and attended fashion week in New York City!

Additionally, we were proud to create our first USA Today ad for Safe Harbor Financial. Lastly, Jaime was given the opportunity to speak on a panel at the Advancing Technology for Humanity Conference in Washington, DC.

Behind the professional scenes throughout 2024, Danielle and Jaime were both reminded that life is unpredictable, challenging, and even gut-wrenchingly-hard as both co-owners experienced life-altering difficulties.

Danielle right after she tore her ACL

Danielle loves everything about her life in Colorado: amazing friends, the beautiful mountain-views, being active outdoors, and most of all – skiing. The 2023/2024 ski season began like others before, but it ended very differently (and quickly). Danielle started her day at Steamboat Resort and began her first run of the day. The light was flat and visibility was low. Then, she hit a frozen bump, causing her to fall. Upon getting back up to make her next turn, she felt and heard the infamous “pop”,  causing her left knee to completely give out. She knew immediately that the road ahead would be long and challenging  with this season-ending injury. After a few anxious weeks of waiting, and with the help of her amazing PT and former client, Axis Sports Medicine, her test results confirmed that she had a fully torn ACL.

After her surgery and throughout the rest of 2024, Danielle worked incredibly hard to heal, recover, and strengthen – preparing to get back on the slopes for the following ski season. Through determination, hard work, and a few tears along the way, Danielle was cleared to ski just one week before Christmas! Ultimately, it was the guidance of her physical therapist and the support of her community that helped her get back to doing what she loves most and is now stronger than ever.

Jaime herself experienced both change and loss towards the end of 2024. Her husband, Ed, received a job offer early October that would relocate the Ofalt family from Philadelphia to Alabama. After much prayer and discussion, the family decided to ‘move’ forward and Ed accepted the job offer. Yet just as the family began preparations for the 1,100 mile Sweet-Home-Alabama move, an unspeakable tragedy occurred: Ed’s son (Jaime’s stepson), Gabriel, was killed in a motorcycle accident. He had just turned 19.

This gut-wrenching loss deeply affected Jaime and her family – turning their world upside down and inside out. Thoughts of, “How is this possible?” and “This isn’t how life is supposed to happen – it’s the wrong order of things,” continually re-played in their minds. Yet the outpouring of support from family, the church community, and friends helped Ed and Jaime walk through the devastating time. Their support via prayers, meals, watching their two girls, and driving hours to attend the celebration of life service helped to keep them going. Jaime and Ed continue to lean on each other and their community as they navigate this extremely difficult time. But one thing that’s shined some semblance of hope is the assurance that they will see their son again one day in heaven. Until then, they endeavor to keep him alive by honoring him and remembering the amazing, sweet, fun kid they loved.

Meanwhile, the Ofalt family continues to prepare for their 1,100 mile move south – hopeful for newfound faith and healing as God continues to write their family’s story.

Gabriel and his two sisters

Professionally, Danielle and Jaime have enjoyed working with their greater Philadelphia region clients and will continue to support them as needed. Yet both cats are looking forward to the future of CreativCat in the deep south and continuing out west.

Personally, despite Danielle and Jaime’s ups and downs, they have taken the mountains they face with stride. They’ve learned to continue to lean into the hard, allowing life’s obstacles to only make them stronger. More importantly, however, they’re reminded not only of the importance of friends, family, and community, but also how supportive their own clients have been throughout their journey. They wouldn’t be here today and couldn’t do what they do without the connections with each and every person in their lives.

Together, they push forward, remaining dedicated to supporting others. And through it all, their CreativCat Design mission hasn’t changed – to equip purpose driven businesses with authentic brands that connect, impact, resonate, and help them leave their mark.
